How to acquire GPS signals?

Put your iPhone outdoor with a clear view of sky. The GPS signal can be interfered with large building, wooded area, or road overpass. If you have Wi-Fi or cellular data network, VELA GPS may find your location quickly.

Can VELA GPS be run on a iPod Touch or first generation iPhone?

iPod Touch or first generation iPhone do not have a GPS receiver, so it can't be used to navigate with VELA GPS.

Can I listen to music and receive calls while using VELA GPS?

YES. Music will continue playing and you can use every function of VELA GPS. Simply select your music in the iPod app before launching VELA GPS. Receiving calls will pause track recording. When the call ends, track recording will resume automatically.

What does the animating satellite at the upper left of the screen mean?

Red animating satellite: VELA GPS is searching satellite.
White animating satellite: Good signal.
Red firmed satellite: Indoor mode. GPS is off.

What's the difference between VELA GPS and VELA GPS Lite?

VELA GPS can save up to 500 waypoints and 200 tracks. VELA GPS Lite can only save 5 waypoints and 1 track.

How to turn the tracking mode on?

Simply tap "lock". The tracking mode will be turn off after you unlock the screen.

How to configure the mail settings?

Tap the button at lower left of the screen, then tap the settings icon.
Here is the example for GMail.
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com
Email Address: your GMail address
Authenticate: YES
User Name: username ( your email address without '@gmail.com')
Password: your gmail password.
User Secure Socket Layer: YES

Here is the example for Yahoo! Mail

I have a clear view of sky ,but still no GPS signal?

Large building or trees surrounded you can interfere the GPS signal. Try to avoid this situation if possible. If you have clear view of sky and no other large object surround you, and you can't get GPS signal within 3 minutes, try to reset iPhone.

Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time. Press them both until you see the screen go black and the white Apple logo appear.

Map and Waypoint:

How to add waypoint?

Switch to the map view and click "+", then select 'Current Location' or 'Center of Screen'. In 'Center of Screen' mode, you can drag the map, then click 'Done'. New waypoint will be appear at center of the blue crosshair.

How to edit coordinates of the waypoint?

Switch to the waypoint view and select the desired waypoint, then click 'Edit'. Tap the latitude or longitude degree. You can enter coordinates by Degrees/Minutes/Seconds picker, or enter decimal degrees (D) via keyboard directly.

Track:

How to save the recorded locations as a track ?

Switch to the track view and tap 'Current Track', then tap 'Save'.

How to clear the recorded locations?

Switch to the track view and tap 'Current Track', then tap the trash button.

Compass:

Why does the compass seem to work only when I have speed?

Heading information is generated by "location changing", so a few speed is needed by the compass. True magnetic compass will be available in the future release.
